Dr. Rok Prislan and Dr. Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researchers, together with Urban Kavka from SCM Adria d.o.o., Dr. Daniel Svenšek from University of Ljubljana and international researcher Dr. Maximilian Neusser from TU Wien, recently published a new scientific article »A floating floor resilient layer development approach and its application to the design of a high impact sound insulation wood-based solution«, published in SSRN.
The study focuses on the development of an impact-resilient layer for floating floor systems, using an experimental prototyping approach. By systematically testing different geometric configurations, wood species and wood-cork composites, the research provides new insights into the use of wood-based materials as sustainable alternatives to conventional solutions.
The findings demonstrate that a wood-based resilient layer can achieve competitive impact sound insulation performance while following sustainability and design for disassembly principles, contributing to research on environmentally friendly building materials and sustainable construction solutions.
This article highlights also the importance of international collaboration and cooperation between research, academic and industry fields for advancing in the development of innovative and sustainable solutions.
