Dr. Wojciech Pajerski, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researcher, together with an international team of researchers recently published a new scientific article »Interactions of ultra-fine polystyrene nanoparticles with lung surfactant monolayers and bilayers: A combined molecular dynamics and experimental study«, published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials, addressing the interactions of ultra-fine plastic particles with biological systems.
The study focuses on the behaviour of nanoplastics at biologically relevant interfaces, using a combined experimental and computational approach. By investigating interactions with model lipid systems, the research provides new insights into how plastic-derived particles may affect the structure and stability of biological membranes.
The findings contribute to a broader understanding of the environmental and health implications of plastic pollution, supporting research on hazardous substances, sustainability and their impact on human health.
