InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researchers attended the 3rd annual SINTETIC project meeting

Dr. Jakub Sandak and Ryszard Sandak, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researchers, together with Riste Micev from University of Primorska, attended the 3rd annual Single item identification for forest production, protection and management (SINTETIC) project meeting, held 3-5 March 2026 in Florence, Italy.

During the two-day meeting, project partners presented the progress of individual work packages and discussed upcoming activities. Researchers from InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM presented the work package on prototyping data-providing systems, summarizing completed activities, the methods used, deviations from the DoA, risks and mitigation strategies, as well as planned actions for the next project period.

In addition, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researchers also led the focus group on harvester development and co-led the focus group on optical fingerprinting, where partners discussed technical challenges, innovative solutions and coordination for upcoming project tasks.

Special focus was given to the development of technologies for tree and timber product tagging and tracking, as well as digital tools to support forest management, along with data analysis and modelling to enhance forestry processes.

On the final day, participants attended a hands-on demonstration of technologies for measuring and tracing timber products in a forest setting, including their use for local timber certification.

The meeting provided partners with the opportunity to review project progress and coordinate next steps in developing digital solutions for sustainable forest management.
