Research article about shear capacity of reclaimed timber connections with thermo-mechanically densified wooden dowels

Dr. Mohammad Derikvand and Donya Bazyar Khoshroodi, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researchers, recently published a new scientific article, “Experimental and analytical evaluation of shear capacity of reclaimed timber connections with thermo-mechanically densified wooden dowels” in the journal Construction and Building Materials.

In the article authors investigate the mechanical performance of double-shear connections assembled from reclaimed spruce timber using thermo-mechanically densified wooden dowels. Authors evaluated bending and embedment behavior of dowels in reclaimed and virgin spruce and assessed the shear capacity of different connection layups. Analytical predictions were also performed using the European Yield Model approach (EYM) to assess the influence of input parameters on model calculations.
