Invitation – 3rd Citizen Science Day

You are kindly invited to the 3rd Citizen Science Day, which will be held on 12 November 2025, in Nova Gorica. The event will feature inspiring examples of local and international citizen science projects, showcasing successful ways of engaging the public in research activities.

Dr. Ana Slavec, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researcher, will present initiatives in the field of citizen science at the University of Primorska, including several projects from InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM:

  • Servite monastery – old maternity home in Koper,
  • Protection of bronze monuments in the changing environment,
  • Engineered wood composites with enhanced impact sound insulation performance to improve human well being,
  • A model for citizen engagement for sustainable and healthy homes,
  • Engaging citizens in building a digital twin for real estate.

At the event goals and activities of the Citizen Science Network will be presented. The network brings together over 60 partners and the same number of active projects, effectively connecting researchers, organizations and individuals across Slovenia. Additionally, stands will be set up in the library, where participants can learn more about individual projects and find out how they can contribute. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the handbook Citizen Science in 5 Steps.

This year, the event takes place under the theme “Discover, collaborate, explore: From practice to people”, and will conclude with three interactive workshops designed for participants of all ages.

The 3rd Citizen Science Day is organized by the Citizen Science Network, in collaboration with the France Bevk Library in Nova Gorica and the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana. The event is part of Science Month 2025, which is funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.
