Woodrise International Congress 2025

Dr. Michael Burnard and Dr. Aleksandar Tošić attended the 5th edition of the Woodrise International Congress (Woodrise 2025), held 22-25 September 2025 at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Canada.

Dr. Michael Burnard joined the Wood Education & Workforce Integration Workshop, and spoke about the role of the New European Bauhaus Pioneer Hub on sustainable built environments with renewable materials. He presented also the European Wood Policy Platform (WoodPoP) initiative which aims to strengthen the role of wood as a renewable resource and actively contributes to shaping framework conditions for sustainable wood-based value chains.

Additionally, he took part in a panel discussion and emphasized the importance of collaboration between Canadian and European institutions to advance sustainable education models.

Dr. Aleksandar Tošić joined the Building monitoring for risk reduction workshop and presented smart moisture monitoring for timber buildings.

The conference showcased next-generation solutions utilizing wood and mass timber from various countries and it was a great opportunity for highlighting emerging public policies, technical advancements, and market-relevant low-carbon innovations.

Woodrise 2025 was organized by the FPInnovations, along with the Institut Technologique Forêt Cellulose Bois-construction Ameublement (FCBA), and the Japan International Association for the Industry of Urban Development, Building and Housing (JUBH).
