School of Renovation at the Servite Monastery

At the beginning of December, the School of Renovation, in collaboration with the University of Primorska and the Municipality of Koper, organized a three-day workshop. The event focused on the restoration and conservation of existing lime plaster, as well as the application of new plaster to removed or damaged sections.

The first day was dedicated to a theoretical session held at the University of Primorska. Eva Prelovšek Niemelä, head of the research department for Creativity & Society at InnoRenew CoE, attended the lecture and presented the progress of the restoration of the Servite Monastery and outlined the planned future work.

The practical sessions, conducted at the Servite Monastery under the guidance of academic restorer Tomaž Furlan, began with an introduction to preparing lime mortar and the process of creating lime plaster. Participants then focused on restoring and conserving the existing lime plaster.
