Dr. Andreja Kutnar among the leading representatives of the WoodPoP initiative on a wood-based circular bioeconomy for a sustainable Europe

The third high-level meeting of the European Wood Policy Platform (WoodPoP), led by Austria and Finland, took place in Brussels on 6 November 2024.

It brought together leading representatives from ministries of the EU Member States, including Slovenia, as well as experts from scientific research organisations and representatives of associations of wood-based industries. Among them was Dr. Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE director.

This year’s Forum focused on the wood-based bioeconomy, with the main objective of agreeing on the document “A wood-based circular bioeconomy for a sustainable Europe: Green Building and Innovative Solutions”. The document identifies critical areas, frameworks and appropriate instruments and resources to strengthen the wood-based bioeconomy, with a particular focus on the construction sector, in Europe and also in other regions.

WoodPoP is a multilateral forum for policy development and exchange of knowledge and experience between key actors from the public and private sectors in the forestry and wood sector. The platform has more than 200 members from EU Member States and countries in the pan-European region (representatives of ministries and associations related to the wood and paper industry, as well as research institutions).

Slovenia took over the Education and Vocational Training Working Group last year. The work of the Technical Group is led by the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sport in cooperation with the InnoRenew CoE.
