Scientific article about cement-based composites

Dr. Vaclav Sebera, Dr. Laetitia Marrot and Filip Majstorović, InnoRenew CoE researchers, together with Maruša Mrak and Sabina Dolenec from the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute and Marco Wolf from Fraunhofer WKI, published “Impact of metakaolin on mechanical performance of flax textile-reinforced cement-based composites” in Cement and Concrete Composites.

In this article, researchers present a study of the effect of Portland cement (PC) replacement with metakaolin on the mechanical behavior of flax textile-reinforced cementitious matrices (TRCM). They found that high amounts of PC replacement with metakaolin provide a calcium hydroxide-free environment, which is more suitable for the natural fibers.
