Presentation by visiting researcher Dunrui Cui at weekly employee meeting

Dunrui Cui, visiting researcher at InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, presented at the InnoRenew CoE employees weekly meeting about the topic “Investigating Wood Durability: Mechanisms in Fungal Competition, Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical Modification, and Metal Corrosion”.

She is a Ph.D. candidate from the College of Materials Science and Technology at Beijing Forestry University, China. Supported by a scholarship program from the China Scholarship Council, she is conducting a one-year research project at InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM under the supervision of Dr. Andreja Kutnar, department chair of InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, focusing on thermo-hydro-mechanical densification and metal corrosion in wood.

During the presentation she shared insights from her doctoral research, introducing her work on the competitive mechanisms of wood-decaying fungi and discussing the influence of chemical changes in thermally modified wood on fungal interactions.
