InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM hosted the Building a sustainable & circular economy through innovative, bio-based manufacturing lines (NewWave) project partners meeting and the final event, held on 3-4 March 2026. The project, funded by Horizon Europe RIA, aims to promote circular solutions in the wood and chemical sectors. Partners reviewed project progress, coordinated final activities and discussed the presentation of results for the closing event.
Within the project, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM led the work package Manufacturing line for wood modification and presented its key results at the meeting. In addition, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM actively contributed to other work packages, supporting the development and validation of bio-based solutions.
Additionally, the final event of the NewWave project was held in a hybrid format. At the event participants presented the project’s main achievements and showcased bio-based innovations aimed at advancing circular solutions in the wood construction and chemical sectors.
Biomass Technology Group presented the transformation of residual sawdust into Fast Pyrolysis Bio-Oil. Foresa Technologies discussed sustainable engineered wood panels developed using bio-based adhesives. Foreco together with InnoRenew CoE introduced modified wood products for outdoor applications, while AEP Polymers and TFC shared results on green chemicals, including bio-based polyols and hydrogenated furans.
The event concluded with a guided tour of the InnoRenew CoE building and research laboratories, led by Dr. Anna Sandak.
Participants gained insight into how wood residues can be converted into high-value products, contributing to reduced environmental impact and supporting the transition towards a circular economy.
