Amina Selmanović, Dr. Wojciech Pajerski and Dr. Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researchers, together with Dr. René Herrera Díaz from the University of the Basque Country (EHU), recently published a new scientific article entitled “Preliminary profiling of miswak (Salvadora persica) wood extractives obtained by ultrasound-assisted extraction” in Wood Material Science & Engineering journal.

In the article they investigate miswak (Salvadora persica L.) wood extractives obtained by ultrasound-assisted extraction. They evaluated extraction yield, environmental indicators as well as chemical and antioxidant properties (FTIR, total phenolics and flavonoids, DPPH). The study provides baseline data to support further research on the use of miswak extractives in wood protection and bio-based materials.
