Dr. Mohammad Derikvand, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researcher, recently published a new editorial article “Reusing timber for a circular, low-carbon future: Challenges and the path forward” in the journal BioResources (Vol. 21 No. 2 (2026)).
In the article he discusses how structurally sound timber is rarely reused due to regulatory and standardisation barriers rather than technical limitations. The editorial highlights the environmental benefits of timber reuse and emphasises the need for updated standards, certification pathways, and policy support to enable wider adoption of reused timber in circular, low-carbon construction.
