Dr. Andreja Kutnar, department chair of InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, attended the Global Summit on “Advancing Sustainable Forest-based Bioeconomy Approaches” (CLI-ASFBA), held 23-25 February 2026 in Vienna, Austria.
Dr. Kutnar delivered a keynote speech on advancing forest-based value chains, discussing strategies for sustainable forest supply, innovation in wood processing and the development of forest-based bioeconomy solutions.
The Summit is an international event that brings together experts, policymakers and organizations to advance sustainable forest-based bioeconomy approaches. Participants engaged in sessions on topics such as sustainable forest supply, forest-based value chains, innovation in wood and non-wood products, financing and strategies for integrating bioeconomy principles into policy and practice.
The Summit was hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management and co-chaired by Norbert Totschnig (Austria) and Pumeza Nodada (South Africa), in cooperation with international partners including the Governments of Australia, Finland, Japan, and Türkiye, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) and the United Nations Forum on Forests Secretariat (UNFFS).
