Amina Selmanović, dr. Wojciech Pajersk and dr. Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researchers,  together with Kamil Drozdz and dr. Monika Brzychczy-Wloch from Jagiellonian University Medical College, as well as dr. Rene Herrera Diaz from University of the Basque Country (EHU), recently published a new scientific article “Chemical and bioactivity profiling of extractives from tropical wood residues: Ipe, Merbau, and Jatoba” in Sustainable Chemistry and Pharmacy journal.

In the article they investigate the chemical composition and bioactive properties of extractives obtained from industrial residues of tropical hardwoods using green extraction methods. The study reports antioxidant activity and selective antimicrobial effects of the extracts, highlighting the potential of tropical wood residues for sustainable valorisation in bio-based applications.
