InnoRenew CoE researchers at the 29th International Timber Construction Forum

Dr. Mike Burnard, Špela Vrtovec and Olga Srejić, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researchers, attended the 29th International Timber Construction Forum (IHF) 2025, held in Innsbruck, Austria.

They participated in Prologue V: Health and Well-being in Timber Buildings, organised by the Technical Working Group ‘Building’ of the European Wood Policy Platform (WoodPoP).

Dr. Burnard gave a keynote speech on how wood affects human senses, comfort and indoor well-being. He also gave a presentation on Living Labs, showing how timber buildings and their occupants can be studied in real-life settings to support healthier and more comfortable environments.

Špela Vrtovec presented scientific explorations on the effects of wood and organized the demonstration.

Researchers also highlighted the Woodstock and the Nature-Inspired Design for Human Wellbeing (BUILDWELL) projects, showcasing ongoing research and innovation in timber construction.

The Prologue highlighted the potential of timber to create healthier and more sustainable indoor environments, underlining the importance of collaboration between research, design and practice.
