Dr. Andreja Kutnar, acting department chair of InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, attended the final LIFE Be-WoodEN project conference, titled “Tackling embodied carbon through wooden construction. The role of bio-based materials and the New European Bauhaus in building greener futures”, held on 3 December 2025, in Brussels, Belgium.
Dr. Andreja Kutnar was the moderator of the conference and the chair of the opening session. She also presented the NEB Academy Alliance, coordinated by the University of Primorska and highlighted its key activities in strengthening education for sustainable construction across Europe.
The conference successfully showcased how the LIFE Be-WoodEN project advances the use of wood and other bio-based materials for sustainable construction in line with New European Bauhaus principles. Participants learned about practical project outcomes, including the co-design of shared spaces in Liguria and explored an exhibition before attending the final project award ceremony.
The conference was part of the Decarbonisation Summit programme, organised by Housing Europe.
