InnoRenew CoE hosted the WoDeFi project meeting

Today, InnoRenew CoE hosted the Innovative engineered wood products made from Thermo-hydro-mechanical densified wood with enhanced physical, mechanical and fire performance (WoDeFi) project meeting.

During the meeting, project partners reviewed the current progress of the WoDeFi project, with updates presented by both InnoRenew CoE and FRISSBE project team at Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute (ZAG). Participants discussed the status of ongoing research, planned upcoming experimental work and defined priorities for the next testing phase. In addition, they exchanged ideas and explored possibilities for preparing new joint proposals in 2026.

The WoDeFi project focuses on developing Thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) densification processes to improve the mechanical performance and fire resistance of wood, particularly from low-value species traditionally not used in construction. By enhancing these properties, the project aims to support the creation of innovative engineered wood products suitable for wider use in modern building construction, while promoting sustainable resource use.
