InnoRenew CoE hosted the 3rd Annual E-RIHS.si Conference

InnoRenew CoE hosted the 3rd Annual E-RIHS.si Conference, held on 18-19 November 2025.

The conference started with welcoming words from prof. dr. Klavdija Kutnar, University of Primorska’s rector, prof dr. Aleksander Panjek, Faculty of Humanities’s dean, dr. Michael Burnard from the InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, prof. dr. Jonatan Vinkler, Director at the University Library, and prof. dr. Matija Strlič, Chair of the E-RIHS Programme Committee.

Among the speakers was also Dr. Ana Slavec, InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM researcher, who presented a contribution related to the project “Engaging Citizens in Building a Digital Twin for Cultural Heritage in Koper”.

She showcased how local communities can contribute to creating a digital representation of Koper’s historic buildings, integrating citizen participation with cultural heritage preservation and sustainable urban development.

The conference, organized by University of Primorska, mainly by Faculty of Humanities and InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, covered a wide range of topics, including interdisciplinary approaches to cultural heritage research, the role of research infrastructures in supporting heritage preservation and the development of innovative methods and technologies in heritage science. Participants also presented examples of successful collaborations, good practices and discussed strategies for the preservation, documentation and interpretation of cultural heritage.

It brought together researchers, professionals, students, conservators, restorers and policymakers to foster interdisciplinary exchange and highlight recent scientific achievements and good practices in heritage science.

Participants had the chance to join the guided tour of the InnoRenew CoE building and research laboratories, led by Dr. Andreja Kutnar, Dr. Michael Burnard and Dr. Črtomir Tavzes.
