MonuPED Citizen science kick-off project meeting

Today, project partners of the citizen science project – Engaging Citizens in Building a Digital Twin for the Immovable Cultural Heritage in the Old Town of Koper, led by Dr. Črtomir Tavzes at the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Slovenia took place in the InnoRenew CoE building.

First, Dr. Miklós Krész, project leader at InnoRenew CoE, presented the main project called Positive Energy Districts in monument protected areas (MonuPED). The project innovatively harmonises cultural heritage protection with sustainable energy goals in monument-protected area.

Later, Dr. Ana Slavec presented the workplan of the new citizen science project which will actively engage participants to provide first-hand information about their buildings.

This citizen-driven data will enrich the existing dataset collected from secondary sources in MonuPED, and enable the development of more sophisticated agent-based models. Partners discussed the proposed plan to recruit participants for focus groups and other project activities. The meeting ended with a guided tour of the InnoRenew CoE and its laboratories, guided by Dr. Črtomir Tavzes.
