Dr. Ana Slavec, InnoRenew CoE researcher, attended the General Assembly of COST Action TransformERS that was hosted by ZRS Koper and took place 25-26 March 2025.
TransformERS is a network that aims to overcome existing marginalisations and fragmentations in knowledge about transformations and transformative change for a just and sustainable world. The meeting focused on the topic of Energy systems transformations.
Dr. Ana Slavec moderated the WG 3 meeting discussion on present transformations and presented her research on exploring consumer preferences for materials with low embodied energy in the context of home construction, renovation, and furnishing in Slovenia. Additionally, she led the group to the second study visit of the program, which included visiting the InnoRenew CoE building in Izola as an example of a low-energy building.
After the visits, attendees shared their reflections and lessons learned. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Participants appreciated that the building is not only an example of sustainable construction but also a research project itself. They gained valuable insights and challenged their misconceptions about wood as a building material, sparking several new research and collaboration ideas.
