At the beginning of this year, Municipality of Izola delivered a festive tree (spruce) to the InnoRenew CoE. This tree, which decorated the roundabout in the city centre of Izola during the holiday season, underwent a sustainable transformation instead of being discarded.
Experts at InnoRenew CoE carefully processed the tree, cutting it into pieces and preparing the wood for drying. In the institute’s workshop, they crafted new holiday decorations from the dried wood—wooden festive trees. To ensure all primary school units and kindergartens in Izola could receive these trees, other types of wood, including spruce, pine, poplar, and beech, were used. The festive trees were distributed to Izola’s schools this week, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices and responsible gifting.

Today they will officially open the December events in Izola (Ledeni otok), which are marked by a special charitable wooden festive tree created by InnoRenew CoE. The charitable festive tree is placed in the lobby of the municipal building on Sončno nabrežje. The Municipality of Izola will gift it to the highest bidder, with the amount raised going to Capris’ charity campaign Hladilnik toplega srca. The starting price for the tree is 100 euros. Anyone wishing to contribute a higher financial donation than the starting price can send their intention to the email address pr@izola.si no later than Sunday, December 22, 2024.
Through this initiative, InnoRenew CoE and the Municipality of Izola demonstrated how successful collaboration can create meaningful and positive stories for everyone.
InnoRenew CoE remains committed to fostering productive partnerships with the municipality and other stakeholders in the local community, continuing to develop activities that benefit the environment and society as a whole.
