First ARCHI-SKIN research visit to SOLARIS Synchrotron

Dr. Wojciech Pajerski, InnoRenew CoE researcher, recently conducted a first research visit to the SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Centre in Kraków, Poland.

As the most modern and largest multidisciplinary research tool in Poland, SOLARIS is a cutting-edge facility and the only synchrotron in Central-Eastern Europe. Its outstanding capabilities place it at the forefront of synchrotron facilities worldwide. The centre features seven beamlines, operating in the UV to soft X-ray range, providing versatile tools for research across disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, materials science, nanotechnology, and medicine.

The visit focused on assessing the feasibility of synchrotron radiation techniques for the ERC-funded ARCHI-SKIN project, which aims to develop innovative bioinspired materials for sustainable architecture. The insights gained during this visit lay the foundation for future collaborations and advanced synchrotron studies.

SOLARIS serves as a pivotal centre for pioneering research, offering state-of-the-art capabilities for applications ranging from material science to biology. For a closer look at this remarkable facility, explore the SOLARIS virtual tour.
