New scientific article about e-cigarette additives

Dr. Wojciech Pajerski, InnoRenew CoE researcher, together with Hanna Korolainen, Ilpo Vattulainen and Waldemar Kuligrom from University of Helsinki, Agnieszka Olżyńska, Paulina Chytrosz-Wrobel and Lukasz Cwiklik from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, recently published a new scientific article “Assessing vitamin E acetate as a proxy for E-cigarette additives in a realistic pulmonary surfactant model”, in Scientific reports.

Authors in this study aimed to examine the harmful effects of vaping additives, focusing on Vitamin E acetate (VEA). Using a pulmonary surfactant model, they found that VEA disrupts lung function by forming aggregates that weaken the surfactant’s elastic properties.
