Dr. Andreja Kutnar, Dr. Matthew Schwarzkopf and Lei Han, InnoRenew CoE researchers, attended the opening event of CLT production facility in Stilles. This is the first production line for cross-laminated panels (CLT) in Slovenia.

Before the opening, a number of pre-tests have been carried out at the InnoRenew CoE and at the Holzforschung Austria. With the ETA certificate from the OIB institute in Vienna, they officially started the production, and the first orders were received.

The use of CLT or X-lam in construction, is replacing bricks and is a load-bearing building material. Among many advantages is the high structural load-bearing capacity, fast construction, lower environmental impact, and it provides a high level of living comfort.

Dr. Andreja Kutnar was also part of the panel discussion about the future of timber construction.
