Amina Selmanović, Dr. Matthew Schwarzkopf and Dr. René Herrera Diaz, InnoRenew CoE researchers, attended the International Conference for Young Scientists on Biorefinery Technologies and Products – BtechPro2024, held 24-26 April 2024 in Riga, Latvia.

During the scientific session Amina delivered an oral presentation titled “By-products from the furniture industry: Analysis of extractives from tropical wood species and potential applications.”

Dr. René Herrera Diaz was the session chair and one of the keynote speakers where he presented his research about sustainable wood treatment solutions and the role of bio-based products, while Dr. Matthew Schwarzkopf held a keynote presentation about how can we better utilize biomass for enhancing bio-based products and chairing one session.

Additionally, participants had the opportunity to attend the tour of the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry research facilities.
