The deadline for abstract submission to participate in the 67th SWST International Convention, “Advancing Regenerative Sustainability with Wood Science“, is extended until 29 February 2024.

The InnoRenew CoE, together with the University of Primorska, will host the Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST) 67th International Convention at Hotel Bernardin, Portoroz, (Slovenia), 30 June – 5 July 2024.

You are welcome to submit your abstract for presentations in different sessions:

• State of the art of wood science – wood structure, properties, and biodeterioration
• Novel applications of wood in the built environment
• Positive environmental contributions through wood utilization, embracing a circular bioeconomy
• Changing the paradigm
• Socio-economic impacts of sustainable wood practices
• New approaches to wood sector education
• Innovation in the forest sector, role of wood in climate mitigation
• Envisioning a future of engineered living materials
• Digitalization of wood products manufacturing
• Early Stage Researcher
• Poster Session

Besides the above sessions, there will be also a special session for The International Academy of Wood Science (IAWS) presentations.

The convention is offering also a rich accompanying program which will enable participants for more networking opportunities. Organizers are preparing the official welcome reception, Young Researcher/Mentor Activity, Early Stage Researcher Session, SWST Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony, and the gala dinner.

In collaboration with the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana a pre-tour is organized which includes visiting the labs at the Department of Wood Science and Technology, and sightseeing the cities of Radovljica, Bled and Ljubljana.

To conclude the convention there will be also a possibility to attend the Post-Convention tour which includes the visit of the research institute InnoRenew CoE and its laboratories, Vina Koper wine cellar with wine tasting, and visit to a local oil mill with oil tasting.
