Dr. Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE director, became a member of the Climate Council, which acts as a scientific advisory body to the Government in the formulation and implementation of climate policies.
At the first and constitutive meeting of the Climate Council, all nine members were introduced. Members are including representatives of all four public universities, the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts and NGOs.
In its advisory role, the Climate Council provides expert opinions and recommendations to the Government on existing and proposed climate policy measures and on compliance with international and EU climate change commitments.
At its first meeting, members discussed the need to address the climate crisis more decisively, and underlined their intention to discuss more in depth the current draft of laws on climate change and the draft update of the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan of the Republic of Slovenia.
