Dr. Jaka Pečnik and dr. Matthew Schwarzkopf, InnoRenew CoE researchers, attended the Barkbuild project meeting, which was held in the framework of the 19th Annual Meeting of the Northern European Network for Wood Science and Engineering (WSE 2023), in Ås/Oslo, Norway.

At the meeting they discussed the past activities, challenges and issues partners acquired in all work packages, and plans for the future work were presented. Additionally, they toured the NIBIO wood technology laboratories.

The main goal of the Barkbuild project, funded by the European Union – ForestValue Research Programme and Republic of Slovenia’s Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, is to evaluate and demonstrate the sustainability, safety and potential for the cascading use of bark-derived, modified wood products within the built environment.
