Dr. Anna Sandak, InnoRenew CoE research group leader, attended the IRG54 meeting of the International Research Group on Wood Protection in Cairns, Queensland in Australia.

She moderated a special session “Novel strategies for wood protection – progress and challenges” and presented two oral and two poster presentations related to ongoing projects.

This year the IRG54 meeting gathered almost 200 participants from 28 countries. The IRGWP membership is a structured group of like-minded scientists and technologists focused on generating knowledge of the science of wood deterioration, as well as novel solutions in providing fit-for-purpose sustainable, and environmentally responsible products for the protection of wood-based materials.
