Among the research projects at InnoRenew CoE, there is also the OLEAF4VALUE project – Olive leaf multi-product cascade-based biorefinery: From an under-used biomass in the primary sector to tailor-made solutions for high added-value international market applications. Its key objective is the development of a complete olive leaf valorisation system.

This is a three-year project funded by the European Union (Horizon2020-JTI-BBI). The 16 project partners are confident that in the first year of work on the project they have made significant progress in all areas of project development.

Among other things, they have made key achievements in the standardisation of input materials, olive leaves, an otherwise under-utilised biomass, and have started to develop smart supply chains. The project partners have also worked on the development of the technological processes through which the olive leaf raw material passes, developing different blends of olive leaf-derived substances (production of customised bioproducts) for oral use.
