Dr. David B. DeVallance, Dr. Laetitia Marrot and Mariem Zouari, InnoRenew CoE researchers from the Renewable Materials Composites group, recently published an article, “Effect of Biochar Addition on Mechanical Properties, Thermal Stability, and Water Resistance of Hemp-Polylactic Acid (PLA) Composites,” in Materials.

In the article, the researchers present a study about the effect of biochar addition on mechanical, thermal and water resistance properties of PLA and hemp-PLA-based composites. They found that optimized loading for biochar improved the mechanical strength of the composites.
