The 9th Hardwood Conference, with special theme “An underutilized resource: Hardwood oriented research”, took place online 24–25 June 2021.

Dr Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE director, was the hardwood utilization’s session chair and part of the conference’s scientific committee.

Dr Václav Sebera, InnoRenew CoE researcher, also joined the conference and discussed the influence of soil in oak root system on its response to bending. Additionally, he presented the experimental and numerical analysis of electric guitar necks made from densified poplar.

The conference was organized by the University of Sopron, Wood K Plus Austria, Mendel University in Brno and FATE (Wood Science Association, Hungary).
