On Friday, 12 March 2021, Dr Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE’s director, attended a meeting of Slovenian President Borut Pahor’s Consultative Committee for Climate Policy.
Committee members discussed with President Pahor the importance of civil society’s greater involvement in relevant decision-making processes. They also discussed the amendment to Slovenia’s water act and called on the government and national assembly to prioritize the right to drinking water and protection of water sources from pollution. It is especially important to better manage and permanently protect water resources because climate change affects water availability and quality.
The committee announced plans for a conference for the after-pandemic recovery and resilience plan, which must be submitted to the European Commission. Moreover, President Pahor will organize a meeting with NGO and civil society representatives to discuss opportunities for their closer cooperation in decision-making processes.
