The European Green Deal addresses today’s climate and environmental challenges, setting an ambitious goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050. Measures implemented to achieve this goal will promote the transition to sustainable construction.
Dr. Andreja Kutnar, InnoRenew CoE director, believes that sustainable construction will improve quality of life and slow climate change through new technologies, digitalization, circular use of materials and expanded knowledge and education within the sector.
To promote her views, Dr. Kutnar took part in “Buildings and the green deal: Challenges and trends” discussion held during the 59th Home Fair in Ljubljana (Slovenia) this past spring.
“If we take wood into consideration – it starts in the forest, goes further into a house, even further to compounds in the chemical industry and, at the end, we come back to the forest – the circle is closed, the beginning and the end are in the same circle,” Dr. Kutnar said.
You can learn more about how renewable materials enable circularity and InnoRenew CoE examples of good practice by watching Dr. Kutnar’s full presentation, the video of which was prepared by Home Fair organizers.
