The Laboratory for Engineering Design (LECAD) at the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Mechanical Engineering organized a four-day training school, PRACE Autumn School 2019 – Big Data and HPC.

Dr Balázs Dávid, researcher in the InnoRenew CoE’s Information and Computer Technologies group, attended the training, which was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia from 17-20 September 2019.

During the training, professors from the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Mechanical Engineering presented basics of parallel programming and hands-on examples. In addition, experts and researchers from the University of Edinburgh, Electrite de France (French electric utility company), CINECA (largest Italian computing centre), and Jožef Štefan Institute (Slovenia) presented topics ranging from classical big data concepts (e.g., using Hadoop and Rhadoop for big data management and analysis) to the very recent container technologies.
