The 4th International Conference on Natural Fibers, ICNF2019 – Smart Sustainable Solutions, was held in Porto, Portugal, from 1-3 July 2019. Organized by the University of Minho, the conference was an event for academics, researchers and professionals in the field to discuss and learn about scientific and technical advances in natural fibres and fibre-based materials.

Dr Laetitia Marrot, researcher from the InnoRenew CoE’s Renewable Materials Composites reserach group, attended ICNF2019 to present her research work on assessment of extended retted hemp fibres for composite reinforcement.

“ ICNF2019 was a great opportunity to meet with the most renowned experts in the natural fibres field from all over the world,” said Dr Marrot. “The conference was insightful, with high-quality scientific exchanges and discussions. I am already looking forward to the next one in two years,” she added.
