Invitation to Charm of cooperation: International collaboration for an innovative forest-based value chain

The Charm of Wood has been promoting and fostering the use of wood and wood products and raising awareness of the sustainable use of this natural material for more than ten years. This event and exhibition, which will be held for the 11th consecutive year, is organized by the InnoRenew CoE, Association for the Protection of Wood of Slovenia, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and FoodMinistry of Economic Development and Technology – Wood Industry, SPIRIT Slovenia – Public Agency of the Republic of SloveniaUniversity of Ljubljana Biotechnical Faculty – Wood Science and Technology and the Wood Council.

The official opening of the Charm of Wood exhibition will take place on 13 May 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Cankarjev dom. The exhibition will be open for visits until 19 May 2019. After that, the moving part of the exhibition will be transferred to 11 different locations across Slovenia. The Charm of Wood will stop in Koper, where the InnoRenew CoE and the University of Primorska will host it in Armerija 1-21 July 2019.

Organizers of the Charm of Wood 2019 prepared a rich accompanying programme, including expert meetings, consulting events and presentations. The first side event, “Charm of cooperation: International collaboration for an innovative forest-based value chain“, organized by the InnoRenew CoE, will take place on the day of the official opening: 13 May 2019 at 1 p.m. in Cankarjev dom in the Kosovelova dvorana room. At the event, successful stories of new projects financed by the European Union ForestValue Research Programme will be presented. Participants will also have a chance to hear about completed projects that successfully continued in new forms and partnerships after the expiration of their funding.

We would also like to invite you to join the expert consultation Wood in buildings, which will take place at 10 a.m. on 14 May 2019 in the Kosovela dvorana room in Cankarjev dom. Dr Iztok Šušteršič, the InnoRenew CoE research group leader of Sustainable Building with Renewable Materials, will join the event and have a presentation.
