On Monday, 11th February 2019, Dr Iztok Šušteršič, the research group leader for Sustainable Building with Renewable Materials, and the InnoRenew CoE researcher, Dr Igor Gavrić, attended the conference Future Living in Ljubljana. The conference was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia in cooperation with SRIP Smart Building and the Wooden Chain.
The conference brought together national and international experts who discussed the future of living and construction, the integration of smart homes into smart cities and communities and the redefinition of home and the role of human beings in it. After the conference, the official opening of the exhibition, which presented the achievements of the Slovene industry of smart buildings, homes and wood chains, took place. The exhibition is organised as a “showroom” of solutions and products with emphasis on innovative achievements and new solutions developed in Slovenia. The InnoRenew CoE is a part of it as we are presenting the force detecting floor, developed by Aleksandar Tošić and Dr Michael Burnard in collaboration with Dr Jernej Vičič from the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies. Solutions not relying on wearable devices usually include cameras and microphones coupled with automatic face detection software that have a psychological impact on occupants and raise privacy concerns. To overcome this issues, we designed network of force resistor sensors deployed under the finishing layer of a floor. The sensors are capable of a very accurate location and movement detection and they communicate this to the user.
The exhibition is organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, in collaboration with SRIP, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology and the Public agency SPIRIT Slovenia.
We welcome you to visit it and our booth at the Dom gospodarstva in Ljubljana until 11th April 2019.
