Dr Sudha Esakkimuthu is a researcher in the field of analytical chemistry at the InnoRenew CoE.
She grew up in Tamil Nadu, India. After finishing her master’s studies in chemistry, she continued her career as a medicinal chemist at Jubilant Biosys, Bangalore, India. She then moved to France and earned a Post Master Degree in Biorefinery: Bioenergy, Bioproducts and Biomaterials. She received the French ministerial fellowship for her PhD research on chemical modification and characterisation of lignin using SEC analytical technique at the Graduate School of Engineering in Paper, Print Media and Biomaterials and the University Grenoble Alpes. She successfully obtained her PhD in January 2020.
Her areas of expertise are valorization of lignin for bio-based applications, lignin-based coatings, functional group modification and characterization of lignin using different analytical techniques (GC, HPLC and SEC). At InnoRenew CoE, she focuses on physicochemical characterization of lignin for potential applications and development of analytical techniques for lignin and biomass-based compounds.
