Franci Demšar

Researcher

Franci was born in Žiri, Slovenia. In 1987, he received his doctorate in physics. His first research period at the Jožef Stefan Institute was devoted to biophysics. He spent two years as a researcher in the US at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, and at the University of California, San Francisco.

His works in the field of magnetic resonance imaging are cited over a thousand times. The next period of his career is connected with the administrative management positions in Slovenia in the fields of science, diplomacy and defense. He also linked this professional activities with research in the field of management. An article on scientometric indications, in which he is the leading author, is among 1% of most quoted articles in the field, his monograph Transparency is reprinted and translated into two foreign languages.

In 2016 he became a full professor, in 2017 he joined the InnoRenew CoE, and in 2018 he became the director of the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.

Franci is continuing his authorship work at the InnoRenew CoE.
